The People Mover

If you're wanting to get around Durban's cbd and golden mile, then the People Mover should be your choice of public transport. The Circle Line, City Line and Beach Lines cover all major stopping points including the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Suncoast Casino, Ushaka, City Hall, Playhouse, Victoria Market, Addington Hospital, Botanic Gardens, China Mall and Durban Station. Lines are connected through transfer stations situated along all the routes. The buses are modern, clean, safe, have aircon for those hot durban days and have great staff who're all friendly and eager to help if you have any questions. Security guards are situated at each stop and there are security cameras in the buses and stops as well. One thing I really like about the people mover as well is that it's wheel chair friendly. The pricing is great. A single trip will set you back R5.50, while a day pass is only R16. There is also the Muvo card which works very similar to an Oyster card. With your ID/Passport and R50, you'll get your card with 10 trips so you're able to get around without cash.  Their website should be up and running soon where you can get more information on the Muvo cards. I use the people mover a couple times a month and always look forward to my trip into the city while reading a book or just enjoying the ride. It beats driving through the traffic.  Thanx to bus drivers, Iqbal, Babsy and Deena who allowed us to interview them for our coverage of the people mover.

Operating hours: 5am - 10.30pm

The Blue Dolphin

The first thing that caught our attention with the Blue Dolphin was the outdoors wood fired pizza oven. I'm sure there are many others out there like us that love pizza and when we finally took our first bite of the Blue Dolphin pizza we fell in love. I still remember thinking about the pizza for days afterwards.  Besides the amazing pizza, the location is gorgeous, situated on Snell Parade at the Blue Waters Hotel. There is an indoors seating area with a stunning bar, including tv's situated in all corners for the sports fans out there. There is also the outdoors area with umbrella's to shade you from the Durban sun, the banana leaf fountain and even a kiddies section where they can run around while parents can enjoy their meal. Following a european trend, this is a Self Service bar, the first of it's kind in Durban. So please don't go to this restaurant expecting to be waited on hand and foot and then be dissapointed. You need to get up and go order your drinks and food at the bar. That is after all what Self Service means. Something not to be overlooked is their coffee. If anyone is a fan of Cafe Jiran's coffee, well then you've just discovered another place that sells the exact same coffee! In fact, it is the very same owners that have setup the Blue Dolphin. And for the cherry on top is the selection of cup cakes and muffins to enjoy with your coffee. They also have great cocktails and serve sushi. I think I've rambled on enough, so enjoy the visuals and be sure to visit the Blue Dolphin next time you're in the area. (Trading hours below)

PS. There's even free wifi for customers. Great for business meetings. x

The first post

There's simply no denying what a beautiful city we live in. Our love for this place, alongside our passion for videography and photography, has led us to this project. Everyday we witness so much on this little stretch of paradise we call home and we want to share this with you. From the colour spectrum in the skies to the diversity of people that full the golden mile, there's never a dull day in Durban.

This is our first post!
